The Best Time to Visit San Blas (Month by Month)

The Best Time to Visit San Blas (Month by Month)

The good news: San Blas is spectacular all year round. We’re in the tropical Caribbean—it’s always warm, and the water is always warm. But there are nuances.

Dry Season (December–April)

The picture-perfect time of year: clear skies, calmer seas, and the most intense shades of blue. It’s also peak season—book well in advance, especially during holidays.

Green Season (May–November)

Short tropical showers (usually in the afternoon, when you’re already on your way back) and everything is greener. Perks: fewer people on the islands and the same turquoise water. Most days are sunny all morning—just when you’re on the islands.

Month by Month, in Brief

  • Dec–Feb: trade winds, choppier seas but clear skies.
  • Mar–Apr: the flattest and clearest seas of the year. Photographers’ favorite time of year.
  • May–Aug: green, warm, calm. Excellent balance between weather and crowds.
  • Sep–Nov: the sea flattens out again; incredible mirror-like days.

Are tours canceled due to rain?

Almost never. Tours run year-round and are canceled only for genuine safety reasons. If that happens, we’ll reschedule or refund your deposit.
